When Blackmagic Design announced the Cinema Camera at NAB 2012, it was certainly a surprise for many of us. While we all have probably used Blackmagic products on set at some point, they have been notably absent from the acquisition side of production. With a sensor size of 15.81mm x 8.88mm, the Cinema Camera introduces 2.5K RAW recording along with 1080 HD ProRes and DNxHD recording for less than $3000. The camera utilizes the Canon EF mount, and with its unique design and form factor, there’s no shortage of third-party accessories available.

While the cameras haven’t started to ship yet, as with any new product release we expect, we’ve put together a lens and accessory guide that covers everything from support options to viewfinders and on-board monitors. We’ll update the page as new products are announced, but you should also check out the FAQ from Blackmagic, which includes a helpful guide to which SSDs are certified for RAW recording.
