If you’ve ever browsed the Tools section of Arri’s website, you’ve probably seen their ALEXA simulator, along with a number of other great resources. Well, here’s some good news for those of you who are curious about the new AMIRA – Arri recently released the first version of their AMIRA simulator.
This interactive tool is designed to help users familiarize themselves with the camera’s menu system and navigation. The main user interface on the viewfinder mimics a real AMIRA (running the first version of its software). Users can demo all of the viewfinder buttons and the ND Switch, as well as most of the controls and switches on the left side of the camera. There is currently no audio panel, but Arri is promising that it will be added in a later version of the simulator.
Arri has also included a handy Frameline Composer in their AMIRA resources. This tool allows users to create custom markings based on specific requirements; the frame lines are then generated as XML files that can be easily uploaded to the camera.
