We’ve discussed many of the advantages of shooting Log C on the ALEXA before, but often one of the biggest roadblocks is the preconceived notion of an overly complex workflow. While this can be true if you need to grade the majority of your footage, often times (especially if you nail your exposure), a simple translation is all that is necessary. If you plan on delivering Rec. 709 content or simply prefer to edit in a 709 environment, sometimes a quick look is all you need. The latest update to Final Cut Pro X adds an easy way to view, edit, and output Log footage as a corrected 709 image, potentially streamlining your entire post process.

One of Arri’s latest Tech Talk videos covers this exact subject, so watch as colorist Florian Martin covers how easy it is monitor Log C in FCP X. Make sure you subscribe to their YouTube channel for even more videos and Tech Talks!
