Your dreams of a super-fast 4K workflow have just gotten a little more real. At CES, LaCie debuted their new Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2, which is one of the few Thunderbolt 2-enabled drives currently on the market. If you’re planning on making the jump to 4K this year, you’ll be happy to learn that the Little Big Disk can reach speeds up to 1375MB/s. It also features PCIe SSDs, which are both smaller and 2.5x faster than SATA SSDs. This makes the drive perfect for anyone needing fast storage (such as working with 4K, Raw, multiple HD streams, etc). During the CES show, LaCie even demonstrated how, using the Little Big Disk, you can work directly from Raw files and supposedly capture 250GB of 4K footage, and then transfer it to the post-production team in under ten minutes. The best news? This new drive will be available in Q1 of 2014.

Watch this video interview with LaCie’s Erwan Girard on the CES floor for more details, and if you want to learn even more about wrangling media on set, make sure to check out our upcoming Digital Loader series
