Sony has added a ton of new features to the F5 and F55 with the release of their version 2.0 firmware (which you can download directly from Sony’s Community site). This release adds many new functions to the camera including waveform and vectorscope displays, 2K recording, high-speed, and much more. Many of the new features may seem small on paper, but they make a big impact on the camera’s functionality. Watch the video above to see some of the new features added to the F5 & F55 that change the way you work with these cameras.
High frame rate recording on the F5 & F55 has been a long-awaited addition, and now it’s here in the new firmware. Firmware v2.0 adds 120p in HD and 120, 180, and even 240p options in 2K Raw mode. You can even set up the camera to record 120p to both SxS cards and Raw at the same time. These options are great, but getting them set up can be a bit complex – watch my second video for a step-by-step explanation of high-speed recording in both video and Raw modes on the F5/F55.
