Recently, I got a chance to talk with Ben Hopkins, founder and head of post-production at Hueman Interest. Hueman Interest is a mobile post-production services company specializing in data acquisition, workflow architecture, and post supervision for Digital Cinema productions. Bringing together all this expertise, they have come up with the new Phantom ThunderStation, a highly-portable, laptop-based download station meant to work with Phantom CineMags. It allows for high-speed downloading using the 10GigE found on updated CineStations – an entire 512GB CineMag can be downloaded in only 35 minutes. The ThunderStation also works as an all-purpose data-wrangling solution, since it is natively compatible with RED SSD, Sony and ALEXA SxS, Canon CF, and SD card readers.
