While the obvious difference between the Canon Cinema EOS C300 and C500 is the C500’s addition of 4K Canon RAW, some of the other distinctions may be less apparent. Although both cameras share the same 4K S35 sensor and internal recording specs, there are some fundamental differences when it comes to output options. The C500 can also output 2K and HD video up to 12-bit 4:4:4, making the C500 a very capable HD or 2K camera. There’s a great read from Larry Thorpe, Canon Senior Fellow Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Professional Engineering & Solutions Division, about the differences  between the two cameras over at Film & Digital Times, so be sure to check it out!

And if you’re interested in learning even more about these cameras, keep your eye out for our Canon C300 & C500 full-day workshop
