Sony’s New PVM-740 Organic LED

Sony’s just unveiled their new PVM-740 monitor. It’s a small on-board camera monitor that is the first in the industry to use OLED technology. Gary Mandle from Sony gave me the rundown on all the great features of this new screen.

    Hi Mitch, any idea why the PVM-740 have a slight flicker when the input is 50hz (50i)?The input is from Redmx 25fps thru the element breakout box HDSDI 720p. I am in a PAL region. The flicker disappear when the output is set to 59.94hz. Due to the need for down convert to SD for the on set recording/playback, i have to use the 50hz option. Thanks.

    There is a control on the camera to change the monitoring output from 29.97 to 25 (it may read at 59.96 & 50, can’t recall which pairing).  This is independent of the frame rate you are shooting. Try switching this and see if your problems go away.
