Last night′s benefit screening for the Cooley´s Anemia Foundation was a great success. Five films by the finalists in the “P2 for a Cause” Digital Filmmaker’s Grant were given their world premiere at a party hosted by Gianna and Chazz Palminteri at DROM, an East Village nightspot in NYC.
The “P2 for a Cause” grant program, created by Panasonic and Abel Cine Tech, creates opportunities for emerging filmmakers by providing them with access to the latest technology, all the while supporting a worthy cause. For the first edition of the grant, filmmakers were asked to create a short film that raised awareness of Cooley’s anemia (or thalassemia).
The four finalists were Time by Stephen M. Harris, A Journey of Courage and Hope: Living with Thalassemia by A. Shaun Kurian, Silence is Not the Cure by Rehana Mirza, and Through the Eyes of Our Children by Kat Rohrer. A Simple Choice by Marquette Jones was selected as the grand prize winner.
Congratulations all around! We look forward to seeing more of your work.
